Ian Kennedy

Ian is a Director within the PwC Private Business team. He provides advice to a range of clients in the Canterbury region and throughout New Zealand from Auckland to Queenstown. Since joining in 1980, Ian values the long term relationships he’s developed over the years and enjoys seeing clients succeed in their business and professional careers. Playing a part in helping clients to achieve their goals makes his roles as trusted business adviser very rewarding.

Ian specialises in a full range of business advisory services including business management advice, ownership structures, succession planning, debt and equity raising, statutory and management reporting, taxation and general compliance requirements.  He is involved in providing financial advisory and taxation support to clients in the health, manufacturing, financial services, property, professional services and farming sectors and takes an active role in the financial operations of these clients.

Currently the Vice President of the Society of St. George’s Hospital in Christchurch, Ian is also a member of the Canterbury Development Corporation Amplifier Cluster providing pro bono mentoring and advice to a number of businesses in the program. Ian was a member of the Executive Committee of the Canterbury branch of Export New Zealand for a number of years and provided advice to their members on a variety of business and tax issues. He also held the position of honorary treasurer in other charitable organisations.

Ian is originally from Rugby, Warwickshire, England having arrived in Christchurch in 1966. He met his wife Carmel (also an accountant) while working at PwC. They have two Children, Melanie who is at University in Wellington and Nathan who is at Christ’s College.
